Two Ph. D student positions (Full Scholarship) are available immediate at the Prof. Jie Zheng lab of University of Akron.
General Introduction of Zheng Lab
Prof. Jie Zheng is a full professor in the Department of Chemical, Biomolecular and Corrosion Engineering at University of Akron. His research is highly interdisciplinary, currently focuses on i) amyloid peptides associated with neurodegenerative diseases, ii) advanced computational algorithms and models, iii) smart and tough polymeric hydrogels, iv) multifunctional superlow fouling biomaterials, and v) engineering biomaterials for biomedical applications. So far, He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers with 14000+ citations (H index: 62). He also serves on the editorial board or academic editor of several peer-reviewed journals. General Requirement:
(1) CV, transcript, TOEFL with minimal score of 79 or above and oral score of 23 or above.
(2) M.S. degree is required.
(3) Self-motivated, pro-activated, and positive attitude.
Simulation position:
(1) Experience with molecular dynamics simulation.
(2) Density function theory or data mining is a big plus.
(3) Strong interesting and skills in programming.
Experimental position:
Either (1) Polymer synthesis training is a big plus or (2) Bioengineering with cells and protein engineering is a big plus.
