The
review covers the recent advances in thermally sensitive microgels mostly
carried out in Chi Wu’s laboratory since 1994. We will discuss basic physical
problems about polymeric gel including origin of slow continuous volume phase
transition, internal motion, kinetics and dynamics of aggregation, and
non-ergodic and ergodic phenomena. The applications of thermally sensitive
microgel in drug delivery and protein arresting system are also presented.
