Chitosan has been modified by polyacrylate sodium or acrylate sodium in the presence of glutaraldehyde, which afforded four kinds of modified chitosan (CTS-PA) with different ratios of reacting substance. They are used as an environmentally benign polymer adsorbent. The adsorption properties of these CTS-PA to Pb2+have been measured. The best adsorption to Pb2+was CTSPA4, the removal efficiency was higher in higher concentration solution than in a lower one, the value of the removal efficiency is approximate 99.991%.
