The folicacid(FA)conjugatedsuperparamagneticFe3O4–SiO2 composite particles were prepared and their properties including saturate magnetization and relaxivity value were investigated. The Fe3O4–SiO2–FA conjugate biomaterials were prepared by the amide reaction between the carboxyl of FA molecule and the surface amino of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS)-modified Fe3O4–SiO2 composite, which was synthesized via direct silicac oating using Tween-80 modified Fe3O4 nano-aggregates. The morphology and structure of Fe3O4–SiO2–FA conjugate were characterized. The saturation magnetic intensity was measured by a magnetometer and contrast effect insolution of the Fe3O4–SiO2–FA composites as magnetic contrast biomaterial was determined by a clinical MRI instrument.
